Welcome to the wild romps of the Wolf Boy!

You are entering the wild forest of Brauna. The ground is quiet with many years of pine needles and secret thoughts from those that have passed through the forest before. Walk a while and listen for the howls of the Wild Wolf Boy and his pack ... perhaps you will join him and howl at the full moon rising!

I Am A Star!

Last night I received my Star Rank at my Boy Scout troop's spring court of honor. I earned it and I am proud of my accomplishments. My mom reminded me that my worth is found in God alone and in the fact that I belong to Jesus. This is much more important that my Star Rank. However, I am still determined to earn my Eagle Rank.

Common Words

I don't study spelling all the time, continually, as a specific learning activity. To be honest, it would be a bore if I had to. However, I do have a review of spelling words off of Ruth Beechick's Common Words list several times a year. This last month I finished re-reviewing (I have gone through them before) the approximately 300 words that are on the Grades 4-6 list. Next month I will start to tackle the 398 words on the Grades 7-8 list of Common Words.

Bad Wolves!?

Why are wolves almost always perceived as the bad guys? In fairy tales there is the Big Bad Wolf and also the wolf that chased Little Red Riding Hood. In movies the wolves are most often put on the evil side. Even in many books by good Christian Fantasy authors, the wolves are often placed on the bad side. These are a few of the authors that show wolves in a bad light: C.S. Lewis, Andrew Pierson, and Chuck Black. Why, oh why, do they put the wolves on the evil side?

As somebody who really likes wolves, I find it sad that so many times the wolves are put on the bad side. One thing that I noticed as a possible reason they may have put wolves on the same side as evil, is that in Europe, a lot of the wolves attached people as their natural habitat was infringed on my man. But did you know that all of the wolves were wiped out of England by men!

Perhaps someday I will write a story and have the wolves all on the good side! I have already read one author that did put wolf-like creatures on the good side, John White. In his Tower of Geberah series, the Koach were wolf like creatures that fought on the side of good. And just to mention it, in Andrew Pierson's Wing Feather Saga, one of the main characters, Tink, was changed into a grey fang; the grey fangs are wolf like creatures, but they walk upright on their rear legs.

I think wolves are getting a bad rap. They show a lot of qualities that our families need to know. These qualities are: loyalty, honor, courage and they stick together in family units (the pack).

Dear Mr. Shobe,

Yesterday I was going to have a party with you. Sadly I was taken to prison by the Duke of Eoram because he thought that I was helping the talking beasts escape from the zoo! So guard the portal at all costs.

RE: Battle Plans

Dear King Leviticus,

These are the plans for the battle: The knights will charge first. They will scatter the foot soldiers. Then we will send in our foot soldiers and they will take over the knights job.

Sire, you will lead the mounted knights in a charge to the enemy fortress. You sire, will challenge the enemy's king to a dual. If you kill him the war will be over.

Your faithful son,
Prince Jives

Yet another writing mechanics assignment.

The Wolf Boy

Dear Mr. Vhown,

I am going to tell you about Charleston Castle where Lord Jami lived. I am sorry to say that he is dead and his son, Lord Foot, has destroyed almost all of his towns. However, he has not found the village in Mymea, so guard the portal there at all costs!

Your faithful servant,
Markus

Dear Lord Knox

This one is a bit longer then some of my writing mechanics assignments. I must have been a bit inspired.

Enjoy,
The Wolf Boy

Dear Lord Knox,

I am sorry for relaying this message to you. Your son and I were going on a trip to one of the towns founded by Lord Jami of the Western Woods. When we arrived at the inn on the Northern side of town, we were surprised by the many people in the town. There were talking beasts of many species, forest people and men. We asked around and we were given many blank stares. So we went back to the inn and had dinner. Then we went to the fire place to hear tall tales. When we were sitting we did not notice the black wolf come into the inn. So as we were heading to bed your son had fallen asleep. The black wolf made his move. it was the most cunning move that I have ever seen. The wolf grabbed your son right out of my hands. I was about to draw my sword but it was too late. So I went to the innkeeper and said, "Innkeeper! Inn Keeper! Have you seen the black wolf that grabbed Lord Knox's son right out of my hands?" He said, "No! I did not!" So I am ever so sorry for losing your son. Please will you forgive me?

Your faithful knight,
Sr. Arsheesh
