Welcome to the wild romps of the Wolf Boy!

You are entering the wild forest of Brauna. The ground is quiet with many years of pine needles and secret thoughts from those that have passed through the forest before. Walk a while and listen for the howls of the Wild Wolf Boy and his pack ... perhaps you will join him and howl at the full moon rising!

A Christmas Gift

Here is a short story I wrote as a Christmas gift from my house to yours.

The Rescue of Toll

by Jamison Drew Cowling

2-24-2015
Once upon a time.........

Let me tell you of a story of a captured boy, a large white wolf, and a evil vial of potion.

Toll sat alone in a dark cell inside Firestone Mountain, which was located in the Firestone Mountain Range. The natural mountian range separated Mymea from Beruna, Land of Elves. He sat all alone by himself and cried out saying , " Why? Why? Why? I was so excited about going to Zanhor Beach for summer vacation."

He thought long and hard about why The Ruiner wanted to capture him. He knew that he was the son of Lord Knox, and he also knew that The Ruiner was the fallen one who had tempted his great, great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents, who were the First Man and the First woman. Tempted they took and ate the forbid fruit, from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

He heard the door to his cell opening, he knew It was not meal time, for the guards came only twice a day to give him food. In stepped a hunchback man with a rapier on his side. Behind him stood The Ruiner. The Ruiner barked, "Is the potion ready?" The hunckback answered, " Yes sire it is." "Then give it to him!" The Ruiner snapped.

The hunckback pulled out a small vial and unscrewed the lid. He took a spoonful of bright green poton from the vial. Then Toll found his voice and said, " I am not eating any of that potion!" " Ah but you are!" said the camelbacked man. Instantly three guards stepped around the hunchback man, two of the guards grabbed Toll's arms and legs, the third pinched the boy's nose, forcing him to breath through his mouth, and the man with the twisted spine quickly slipped the spoon in Toll's mouth! Toll gagged and desperate for air swallowed the potion. Toll gluped and then asked, " What is the ick medicine going to do to me?" The Ruiner grinned and said, It is going to make you stay the age you are! You will be five-years old forever! Already you can feel the changes in your body.It wil give you infantile blood making the pituitary gland to die inside you.' And with that the Ruiner gave a sinister chuckle and he, the hunchback man, and the guards walked out of the room. And shut the door with a loud clang.

Toll gave a sigh and a shudder for he did already felt the changes inside his body. He began to cry.

Life for Toll the next few days was spent in such a dreary state that I will not mention them. However on the sixth day after Toll swallowed the vial tasting potion he heard a commotion ouside his door. He thought it was the Ruiner again, but the door was flung open and in the doorway stood a large white wolf! It was Veil Ambassador Wolf, Toll knew this by the color of his fur.

Veil said, " Quickly on to my back!" " We must fly if were going to make it to the tunnel, that E. M. Dust made, before the alarm is rasied!' So Toll climbed onto Veil's back and they raced down one of the many passages that lie under Firestone Mountain.

When they reach the tunnel that. E.M. Dust made, E. M. himself. poked his head out saying, "Is it all clear?" "Yes it is replied Veil. " Off we must go!" said E. M Dust. So they ran down the tunnel, which was almost the entire length of the Firestone Mountain Range.

When they emerged outside of Firestone Mountain, they were already 20 miles away from the base of Firestone mountian! Toll heard several loud bells ringing from within Firestone Mountain. They rang out and from its black depths issued forth Urgals, Minotaurs, and Orcs riding wargs. "We must be off!" cried Veil. So they raced down the length of the Firestone Mountain mountian range towards Forge Gate, an Eastern sea town which was less then five miles away. A normal urgal or minotar or warg rider can easly outpace a normal wolf, but Veil, who was of unusual size for a gaint wolf easily outpaced all of the minotaurs, urgals, and warg riders. For four miles Veil outran their pursuers. There was only 500 feet more before the town gate! 400 feet! 300 feet! 200 feet! 100 feet! 50 feet 10 feet, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 then they ran throuth the town gates. The gates closed quickly behind Toll and Veil, and the monsters bashed there heads against the town gates! Veil raced to the citadel, the guards opened the gate for Veil and he and Toll went on into the great hall. Lord Knox sat in a high back chair his, eyes downcast. Toll dismounted and Lord Knox looked up and saw his son.

"Toll? My son O my son!" He ran towards Toll and picked him up in his great arms and embraced him. There was much weaping and crying on both sides.

Later that night whe Lord Knox, Toll, and Veil were attending worship in the Creator's Church. Veil heard the Creator say to him in a still small voice, " Your work is not done O my faithful servant." Toll heard the Creator say, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Lord Knox heard the Creator say to him, " You have been tested and have proved to me that you love me more then your own son."

Many miles to the West deep in the top of Firestone Mountain, sat the Ruiner. "Very well King Leviticus you can have your son,the brave Prince Wolfheart and your nephew, Toll, but you will not withstand the storm clouds of war I have prepared for you!" The Ruiner took his sword and slashed the curtain behind him. A huge black dragon, blacker then midnight, whose name is Firegone, stood behind the curtain. Firegone unfurled his wings and let out a long roar, and then he losed a stream of fire. But the tale of that war is a tale for another time.

The End.

So long,
The Wolf Boy
